MIND THE GAP

Exhibited in Stanley Picker Gallery (2019)

A friend said that when speaking English, she can only express 75% of herself. Another friend said that it is difficult for her to find an English vocabulary that is as accurate as her mother tongue. As for me, when I tried to adapt to the English-speaking environment, I found myself sometimes forgetting some words in my language.

The sense of loss is a gradual erosion, like the dropping hair due to the hard water in the UK. I thought I was approaching the next stop, and at the same time, I was getting farther and farther away from home. There is always a gap for me, always. To adapt to the gap, to adapt to the environment, I end up become fluid.

After all, no one is not a foreigner.
